A love of turquoise was what inspired this kitchen’s color palette. When my clients came to me with a small bottle of ‘tropical ocean’ paint as a reference of their favorite color, this kitchen's confident color palette began. A deep, lush turquoise glass backsplash creates center stage for the hood and in the lighted accent cabinets around the perimeter of the kitchen.
A custom stainless steel plenum floats in the air and creates the junction from the hood to the attic. It allows the hood to be the main, centered attraction, as structural engineering could not be changed with a major structural post centered behind the hood. Stainless steel on the ovens, the cleanup sink, countertop and the shimmering LED lit monorail and lights counterbalance the vibrant color scheme and create an energizing and uplifting kitchen. The most heat proof and durable countertops on the planet are in robin’s egg blue. Over 12 feet of custom stainless steel counter and apron sink define the cleanup area of the kitchen. Eco-friendly reconstituted natural cherry veneer cabinetry, horizontally positioned, softens the palette: Saepele mahogany wood tops, copper colored porcelain tile floors balance the vibrant colors.
Two center islands allow multiple cooks and multiple prep areas…
Nearly a foot separates the heights of my two clients. A higher cutting board for the tall husband, who does that task, and lowered rangetop and counters create perfect work zones for both. Point of use refrigerator drawers supports the custom stainless steel prep sink. Lower chopping occurs with a flexible chopping matt next to the range.
Ultimate in design, materials, appliances, lighting and space converge in this very modern kitchen. Open to the high tech, 3 screen TV family room, there is no doubt that technology is king in this house…but you can still feel the cool, calm ocean breeze in the Valley when you are in this kitchen!
